Welcome!Welcome to the official home of the Salt Lake Valley Lodging Association. We are pleased to be able to share information with you concerning the SLVLA in relation to recent events and future endeavors of the Salt Lake Valley hotel & motel industry. If you are interested in becoming a part of this great industry, we encourage you to come and take part in one of our upcoming member meetings. Come see what we have accomplished, and what the future holds for SLVLA. We are moving in a great direction and would appreciate input from all. Make this industry your industry. Individually we struggle to be heard, but collectively we cannot be ignored. Join with us now. President's Message (Summer 2009)I hope this newsletter find you all doing well and getting ready for what we hope will be a great summer season along the Wasatch front. First of all I would like to share my thanks and appreciation for the support and interest in the Salt Lake Valley Lodging Association from so many hotels in our community over the last several months. As often happens in our industry, we have been faced with some interesting proposals/legislation as of late that have really galvanized our association. The main sparks of course have been the proposed building of a new Convention Center hotel adjacent to the Salt Palace and the most resent changes in our states liquor laws. With issues this big, we have seen a great turnout at our member meetings and consistent communication throughout our association. It is times like these that I start to get very excited about just how powerful and organized this association can be. It was not long ago that I can recall sitting around a boardroom and having a SLVLA members meeting with about 6 hoteliers! We actually called this an Association! Today, we have close to 20 members and have seen member meeting with 25-30 plus people in attendance which is very encouraging. We need to keep the momentum going! If you have been active lately, we appreciate all you have done and urge you to consider telling other hotels in your area about our association. If you have not been active, I ask that you consider getting involved because I believe that every voice in important in our industry and there is great strength in numbers, so with that, I look forward to growing this association with you and working together as an industry to strengthen all our individual properties! Take care and best wishes for you and your businesses this Summer! Mark Mundel
